Atlanta at schmantla
Man, what the hell? Can't get online in this city. I tried to log onto our wireless network in the classroom , and no dice. Here at the hotel, where I paid $13 for a yogurt and a bowl of oatmeal? forgettaboutit. Yeah, pay $10 a day for extremely shoddy wireless access on T-Mobil? I gave up after it kicked me off several times in as many minutes, but that's alright, I charged it to my corporate card. But still, you would think you could find reliable wireless access these days in a city such as "the ATL". So, I'm here on dial-up and it's not half-bad, it's not like I'm downloading huge files right now or anything. I'm cool though, I'll be alright. This week of class isn't nearly as bad as the 2 weeks in Vegas. I'm already going home tomorrow, but it did take me nearly all week to get online. Yesterday I did manage to get on the wireless network in the classroom, but only for a few minutes before my laptop battery died, man, I'm lame.
I got in town about midnight Monday and went straight to bed. Tuesday a co-worker and I ate at Friday's and I had the Chicken Verde Enchiladas with a couple Michelob Ultras. The verde sauce was everywhere drowning everything on the plate and the chicken breast was flat and I had to fish around for it on the plate. The enchiladas were good though, the corn tortillas were very soft and the vegetables crisp and steamin' hot. The beers were ice-cold. That did it for me because beforehand I had worked-out on the treadmill and elliptical for about 50 min. After dinner I watched The Cell back at the hotel on my laptop. I forgot how awesome that movie is. The story is so quintessential sci-fi and the visuals are amazing, simply amazing. The visuals remind of the days of highschool misadventures, close-calls, and loving every minute of it. I still get chills watching stuff like that...kinda like listening to Butthole Surfers.
The next night the group went out to a sports bar situation for dinner, again after my 50 min. work-out where the phone was ringing as I was standing wet and naked in the shower trying not to slip on the tile floor as I ran to answer the phone. I was 5 min. late getting down to the car to meet the others. At the bar I had Grouper tacos, 3 bourbon and sodas and another Michelob Ultra. Went back to the hotel, watched Doves Where We're Calling From DVD, felt extremely inspired and went to sleep only to have a dream of jamming with Les Claypool.
Tonight, Thursday, I ditch my plans to go see My Morning Jacket seeing is I can't fly and I don't have a car. The evening is set with a trip to Dave and Buster's right after class on our instructor. I order a couple appetizers for the group of fried cheese sticks, spinach and artichoke dip. For myself I get a Cheeseburger-Cheeseburger which is two ground beef patties and two pieces of cheese with all the fixins. I order it medium and I see it has been cooked well-done, oh well. After I eat most of the behemoth burger and drink a Michelob Ultra I play some driving game which I totally kick-ass at by the way because I'm a race car driving fool. I take-off early to get another exercise session in and get online to look over my revised itineraries for the next 2 weeks.
