Boot Camp day #6
Okay, this is sad. I sit down to write this blog about day #5 and I can't remember what I did. So, I 'll skip to Friday. I think if I call my wife she can tell me what I did on Thursday. The brain cells are a-dyin' a slow death.
BTW I think it was Tuesday we had lunch at a place called Baja Fresh go there, eat there it's fabulous. I had the Tres Tacos fish. Very good, with cabbage, pico de gallo on a corn tortilla with a side of chips. They also have a salsa "bar" (really, only 3 kinds of salsa, cilantro and limes). They also have this thing called an Enchilado where they smother a burrito in sauce and cheese like an enchilada.
OK, so back to Friday. Well it's our first Friday and everyone is excited and we got outta class early to boot. I go out that night for dinner at the MGM Grand . We go to a Sushi bar and it's pretty damn good. I had 2 pieces of smoked salmon, an Alaska Roll and Las Vegas roll, cause you gotta have a Las Vegas roll in Vegas. Washed it all down with a 21oz. Tsing Tao. After that we go see what 1/2 price tickets we can find to some of the Vegas shows and after much debate we decide on Splash . It a good price about $30/ ticket. Scramble to the monorail and then hoof-it over to the Riviera for the show. The show was better than I thought it would be considering there are so may shows in Vegas and there has to be a point of disolution...I was wrong. It's features a guy that suspends himself under his own power from a long piece of red fabric from the rafters and does the most amazing acrobatics I've ever seen, the dude is literally comprised of muscle, muscle and skin. It was very cool and the comedy acts were very funny as well. The Richard brother are a slap-stick, juggling trio from Mexico. I recommend Splash. Oh yeah, there were topless dancers too. :^)
After that walk down to hotel Wynn ...amazing! I can't put into words this place. It features a Ferrari/Maserati dealership connected to the lobby, the decor inside is so ecclectic and eccentric you'll get a headache trying to look at everything. I drink 3 Silver Margaritas (Sauza Silver, citronge, lime, agave syrup, slice o lime and salted rim). Head back to the hotel and on the way stop inside the Venetian to look around and find another bar Venetian . I stayed there about 3 years ago for another oncology meeting. That time my wife and son accompanied me and I wish they were here now because I miss them and they miss me.
Then, we catch a cab back to the Hilton Garden Inn and I listen to my co-wokers argue with the driver because they thought he was rude and didn't tell them before we left that he doesn't accept credit cards for fare, he's cab driver for crying out loud. Entertaining none-the-less. Outside the hotel I meet a couple from Lubbock who just got married in Vegas.
I call it a night at 2:30AM.
